Q. I already have a dentist but he doesn’t provide cosmetic treatments, can I still come to Carlton House?
A. Yes. We regularly treat patients from other dental practices and indeed we have many dentists referring patients to us for our advanced treatments. Usually we will let your dentist know what treatment we have undertaken to ensure that they provide appropriate follow up care. (back to top)

Q. Does tooth whitening damage your teeth?
A. No. The clinically approved whitening systems that we use do not harm tooth enamel in any way. The gel only oxidizes pigment proteins creating beautiful white teeth without affecting the mineral in the enamel in any way. (back to top)

Q. What downsides are there to tooth whitening?
A. Very few. In some cases, people report short term sensitivity to cold for up to 24 hours after whitening treatments. We tailor the whitening procedure to the individual and where people already have sensitive teeth, desensitizing gels are provided and the gel mixture strength reduced to minimise sensitivity. In all cases sensitivity is very short lasting and always resolves within 24 hours. (back to top)

Q. Are veneers damaging to healthy teeth?
A. When teeth are prepared for porcelain veneers, some natural enamel is removed. The amount removed is kept to a minimum and in most cases is only around 0.3 to 0.5 mm. We also provide "no preparation" veneers in certain situations where no drilling is needed. (back to top)

Q. Do you guarantee your treatments?
A. We offer a one year guarantee on all our restorative work from the day of fitting. Root fillings are not covered by any guarantee due to the variable nature of the treatment. (back to top)

Q. I already have a set of veneers that have been present for years but look poor. Can they be replaced?
A. Yes. The amazing range of natural lifelike materials we now have at our disposal means that old false looking crowns and veneers can now be replaced with fresh, stronger and much more natural looking ones. (back to top)

Q. Once I have had cosmetic dentistry, will it need replacing in the future?
A. As with all dental treatments, the length of time something lasts depends on how ell it is looked after. We aim to ensure that we provide all the necessary care, advice and follow up to ensure that cosmetic treatments last a lifetime. We have 2 dental hygienists that provide ongoing care and maintenance as well as advice on looking after your mouth, teeth and gums. Cared for properly, there is no reason why cosmetic treatments shouldn’t last a lifetime. (back to top)

Q. I am a very nervous patient but would like cosmetic dentistry. Is this possible?
A. Yes. As well as being a specialised cosmetic dental practice, we are a referral centre for anxious patients. We offer all treatments under sedation allowing even totally phobic patients receive dental care in a relaxed and stress free manner. (back to top)
