Any patient diagnosed with Gum disease is referred immediately to one of our hygienists. An initial screen is carried out to determine the level of disease. This baseline screen is used at the end of the treatment to monitor how successful the treatment has been. The teeth are then thoroughly descaled (usually under local anaesthesia) and advice regarding home maintenance given.
Patients who have had a course of treatment on their gums are closely monitored upon completion to ensure adequate maintenance. Typically patients with a history of gum disease will be reviewed initially every 3 months.
